Hello,
I need information.

Orignal Mac user from 1984 to 1996. Then was coaxed by my employer to move over to Windows.

I used PS from about 1988-to-date.Learned to use PS on MAC long before it was used in Windows.

First purchased PS for Mac when it came out. Then, purchase PS 3.0 for my first personal use for Windows.

From 3.0 I upgraded through all versions through PhotoShop 6.0.

I've used PhotoShop 6.0 for 10 years at least. Then last year I retired and decided to go IMAC for my own business. We use PS 6.0 on the PC to operate a web business to put up about 100 high fidelity, new images each week advertising the product we sell in our business.

Now, I need to get a new version of Photo Shop for the IMAC environment.

There is no path for upgrade to from PS 6.0 WIN. to Mac.

Adobe has no information source I can find that compares PS 6.0 features to the current Product offerings.

We don't need Illustrator, movie, animation image editor, 3D-tool set, etc, etc.

I do need the best quality still image editor that allows me to take a high quality macro image capture and adjust the natural lighting, realistic color, enhance shadowing, both direct light and reflected light to optimized surface texture and color variation subtleties. I am fairly competent with the light rendering capabilities in PS6.0.

[size=12]Simply asked, is there not a sophisticated MAC PhotoShop app available that I can transfer my PS 6.0 skills directly? PLEASE HELP!
Cheers!
Bob

Hi thistlesifter, welcome to the forum.

This is the Adobe Upgrade Buying Guide it includes as far as I can tell from 6 upwards.

You can download a trial and use it for a month, there's nothing like a hands on trial for getting to grips with it. Photoshop CS5 Trial I think you may have to install Adobes install manager first.

Hope that helps a little.

When you say upgrade your "skills", do you mean that you want to make it as easy as possible easy to learn? Or did you mean that you have spent time developing things like actions which you want to be able to migrate to a new version?

In terms of learning new features, I recently upgraded from CS2 to CS5, so I understand if you're concerned about having to commit time to learn new features. From CS2, it wasn't so bad, but it really did help to sit down and patiently work through some books (and join this forum!). From PS6, I imagine that there will be a lot of new things added.

But it's really fantastic software, I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed.

You don't have to buy the whole Creative Suite, you can just buy Photoshop. The trial would be a good way to test it out, but don't be put off if it seems to have a lot of new options and buttons. You will soon be making good use of them and wondering why it took you so long to upgrade!

Best wishes.
