Hi, I'm trying to find the easiest/best way to create this pattern:

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.ludwig-drums.com/image/products/finishes/LT882XXOQ.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.birdlandmusic.net/item-LEGACYCLASSIC--Ludwig-Legacy-Classic-Series-Build-Your-Custom-Kit&usg=__YyUnLCDODQaGY8mkGp_FLEWzJrM=&h=568&w=770&sz=373&hl=en&start=65&zoom=1&tbnid=MjXFfqkTjAnTUM:&tbnh=122&tbnw=163&ei=K2tYTYyfLpSDtgfot7CBDQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblack%2Boyster%2Bdrum%2Bwrap%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D1920%26bih%3D994%26tbs%3Disch:1,isz:m0%2C710&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=120&vpy=412&dur=60&hovh=193&hovw=261&tx=105&ty=80&oei=vWpYTbw7jaO2B-Ps-KsN&page=2&ndsp=63&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:65&biw=1920&bih=994

I'm hoping there would be a filter/plugin/action that would help me create it. If someone wants to just tackle the challenge themselves I need it to be 300 dpi, but the dimensions only need to be 25" x 3".

Thanks for the help!

Hi zoobee welcome to the forum. Find yourself a blue camouflage texture from the internet, transform the height by 1/2 and lengthen it twice that of its original dimensions. Apply a warp filter and then duplicate layer and set blend mode to Lighten (you may or may not want the last step).

It's a fairly rough approximation of what you need, but with some tweaking you should get there.

You know, I actually tried something similar with a black camo (which seemed to work better than the blue), but it still didn't look right. Plus I need to try and get the grey in the camo to look like the silver/pearl in the Ludwig finish. I need that exact finish and I can't find any hi-res patterns for it so I, unfortunately, need to recreate it.

Your example looks more promising than my attempt, though. Just how did you warp it? I'm using CS5. If I could get the pearl look added to it, it just might work.

There are a few warp transformations in PS, from memory it was probably either Filter>Distort>Distortion of your choice.

I have had another thought though, use the actual texture from the drum and make it into a seamless pattern, I took a small sample from the centre of the drum and made it seamless HERE Obviously I did not do more than a 5min job, but I hope it demonstrates the technique.

I started playing with that too after I replied! I think that may be the best way.

Something weird's happening though as I know you attached a pic to your previous post (I saw it once this morning), but 3 of the 4 times I've dropped by I couldn't see it.

If you posted a sample of the 5 min sample you did I cannot see it. The link you posted just goes to a nice tut on seamless tiling.

Thanks!

ermm the piccie should be available at the bottom of my post and already been viewable - anyone else having problems?

As you say the link goes to the tutorial and the image should be at the bottom of my post.

i'll need your email. you can send it to adamwhopkins@yahoo.com if you don't want to post it here.

and just out of curiosity, what does 25" x 3" cover? a tambourine?

edit: nevermind, i hadn't checked my email yet.
