I am a designer and need to know if there are any font restrictions in Photoshop CS 4 concerning usage?

Such as:
If I create album covers or cell phone skins for resale that have the font in them is that OK?

Can they be sold overseas or is it just in the USA where I am based?

I read the terms and the lawyer speak has me confused. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! Confused

Yes they can be sold anywhere.
Just don't distribute the font itself.
Also make sure you have a commercial license with the fonts you use.

Thank you. Do I need to get another commercial license for the fonts included with the Photoshop CS 4 software ? Sorry I am a bit confused. If I create them for another company ( I freelance) does that company need a license of sorts? THanks again!

I hesitate to give out any legal advice, no matter how casual, different states and countries have different laws and guidelines. There is no definitive answer.

I would say (with no knowledge and ignoring my previous response) You have purchased the rights to use the fonts/typefaces in Photoshop, in fairness I bet trudging through the documentation would make that clear, as such you are able to use them in commercial enterprises.

Send the letter to my legal team if I am wrong ;)

lol nah i think that's fair hermit.

To answer your question tmkmck, the company will not need the license to your font, because it has been rasterized/vectorized inside your image file, thus they do not need the font file itself to view the image.

So you only need one commercial license for yourself.

Just like the Hermit this is all care no responsibility.

My understanding is that anything which is part of a software package is covered by the software licence you receive as part of the purchase.

Any font used within the software is embedded in your cover.
