I am newbie and what I would like to do is take a color photo containing a door and change everything except the door to B & W. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Duplicate the layer and desaturated it.
Create a mask for that layer by clicking on the icon on the bottom of the layers pallet.
It's a gray box with a whiter circle in it or go to Layer|Layer Mask|Reveal all.
Set foreground color to black and the background to white by pressing the (D) key.
If they're reversed use the (X) key to switch them
With the mask selected use the Brush tool (B) set to black and paint the area you want to show in color.
If you make a mixtake use the (X) to switch to white and paint.
White hides, black reveals. |
