|
|
I've been following this and another youtube video meticulously to separate the ink and start coloring on layers, but it won't let me paint then.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUeYgOwXaiU
Once I've separated the ink layer then I should be able to color on any layer right?
TIA |

You make a selection on the ink layer.
You switch to the correct color layer and use the bucket tool to put the color you want in the selected area.
"It won't let me paint?"
That's not a very helpful description of what your doing.
You need to give a step by step explanation of what you're doing and detailed explanations of the problems. |

Using the maglot tutorial I've been doing this...
1. Windows> Channels
2. Select Blue> Click and drag to new layer
3. Round dotted icon at the bottom
Load Channel as Selection = marching ants
4. Windows > Layers (or F7) or New Layer tab
(gray checkers appear)
5. Click on Paint Bucket Tool
6. Make sure layer 1 is selected> click deselect
7. Get rid of Back ground
Edit>Fill> set to white > ok
8. Icon saying Lock all
9. Click Magic wand
This is where I get into trouble. The magic wand created the marching ants around the entire image and little ragged dots at the ink lines. It doesn't appear to select anything and the paint won't work at this point.
Where the magic wand or paint bucket should be it is instead a flat hand.
Is there a simple tutorial for separating the ink layer and painting on new layers that you might be able to recommend?
I appreciate any help. |

Those steps you posted in your 2nd post weren't part of the 1st tutorial, at least I don't remember them.
That first tutorial in your 3rd post was really annoying with the clicking but it's what I said to.
Select and area then dump the color in that selection in a new layer.
You're not going to get that final effect you want just by filling colors into selections, you're going to need to had paint highlight and detail. |

Thank you for the help. Yep, after trying the 'clicking tutorial' I realized it wouldn't work for the effect Reiq is demonstrating.
Ok, I'll go over the steps in the first tutorial (I'd copied the directions from my notes which must be wrong).
It's amazing that there are so many different ways of doing it, separating the inks.
Thank you for the help =) |

I think that I've almost got it.
I can't link to the tutorial by skwerl grrl because the figure may or may not be nude.
These are the steps...
1. Select your background layer> right click> duplicate the layer
Move this to the front (top)
Turn off the background layer (click the eye off, right?)
2. Go into Channels> click on RGB layer
Hold down the Control button (in windows) on the keyboard
Then Left click on the layer icon picture
3. Inverse it
Back to layers> select> inverse (at the top)
4. Make a new layer
Fill this layer
Select > Deselect
After this is the problem.
When I create a new layer to paint with, again, I can't get the paint brush to paint in that layer. It doesn't have a lock sign on it, but nothing.
Sorry to be a pain. If anyone knows what step I'm missing I'd be really grateful.
thanks =) |
