I'm very new to designing..lets say this might be my first or something...anyways i got these nice icon pack from deviant art and loved them but one thing i want to do is change the colours to green...Here is an example of what i wanna do...Please use minimal terms as i have shallow knowledge in cs5 Ps....thanks in advance.....

Welcome to the forums silvela, there are a hundred ways to skin a cat in Photoshop, but try this one....

Image>Mode RGB (it's currently in greyscale), then add a Solid Colour Adjustment Layer and set the layer blend mode to Darken, Colour Burn, Darker Colour, Overlay any that suits you really.
