Hi guys, I searched everywhere on the web for help with this, but can you tell me if its possible to edit text in a picture...

for example, a street sign. Lets say I wanted to make the street sign say "Happy Birthday", in the exact style of the original sign, making it look genuine????

Welcome to the forums Mtaylor87, In short the answer is yes, there are no specific tutorials that I know of however. As always a picture speaks a thousand words in these matters. If you are from the UK, I can help by telling you what font they use on signs over here, Transport Medium and Motorway Permanent, if that helps any.

The thing is, it isnt actually a street sign or anythin i want editting.

Basically, i've taken a screen shot of something on the internet... I have no idea what the fonts are, and I just want to edit the information that's written.

Seems really hard to explain, but I suppose if you imagine, I took a screenshot of a programme like windows media player.

The tabs list "Title" "Length" etc etc. Now I know, its probably easy to determine what this font is etc and then be able to change it... but what if you can't find the font?

I suppose what I was really looking for in photoshop was some kind of text tool that would automatically detect font size/type/colour etc and let you input whatever you liked to replace what was already there

there's no such tool.

you can make small changes to text by cutting out individual letters and rearranging them... but only if the letter you need are already there!
