Hi
OK my first problem is when I am trying to stroke a shape created with the pen tool. When I try to stroke the outside lines to make a more thicker line I find that suddenly thin lines run vertically through my image, see attached photo;

Second I have used a the gradient tool to unsurprisingly make a gradient bottom right of the page to top left. I need to thou desaturate part of the gradient as it is not symmetrical. I have tried to use the sponge tool to do this but I cant seem to get any effect. The dodge and burn tool both work on the layer but not the sponge - what am I missing ??
