Hi all,

Not sure if this is a Photoshop or Illustrator question really as it concerns both but thought I'd try here...

When drafting logo designs (or similar) in Illustrator I copy them into Photoshop as a Smart-Object but don't like the way the outline of the Illustrator image is pushed right up against the Photoshop image edge and wondered if there is a way to specify a border (white space) around the Illustrator image so this doesn't happen?

Generally I have a page in Illustrator that has several designs on, so select one to go into Photoshop, scale it up, draw a box around it (container), which creates the border, select that and the image inside, copy and paste into Photoshop.

In Photoshop I then remove the container outline leaving nothing but white space...easy enough but is there another way to do it so that there is space around the image when it goes into Photoshop?

Thanks and glad to have found the forums!

Not sure if you can. Just thought i would suggest another way around your problem. When u open up the illustrator image in photoshop and there is no border, go to Image > Canvas Size and increase the size.

Hey thanks for the reply Auieos, that works :) easier than having to remove a border-line
