I apologize in advance for asking stupid questions. I'm an inDesigner and am completely new to photoshop.

I have an image of a flower (white moonflower) that I'd like to turn into my logo. I want it to end up as kind of a line drawing (transparent in the petals) with some shading/fade and have a subtle electric glow to it. I've tried tracing around it with the pen tool and then change the layer styles but I think it looks really amateurish/cartoony. Because I'm so new, I don't really know what kind of possibilities there or or techniques to look up. It'd be super great if I could find a tutorial on just converting the photo into this kind of look as opposed from tracing and painting since this is not my strong suit.

Any suggestions on techniques I should research?

Again, sorry for my noobishness. I would really appreciate any help.

My suggestion is use vector which means use Illustrator not Photoshop. Otherwise 'vexel tutorial' is what you should search if your doing it in Photoshop.

If you have Illustrator it can 'Live Trace' the flower and it does it for you, no need to trace.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the response.

I'll work on getting to know Illustrator.

Nice job, Auieos. :)

afiera, no need to apologize. Not stupid at all. Everyone has to start somewhere. Welcome.
