Haha.
Thanks Mike and Auieos.
Auieos, I guess it all depends on usage. I don't think the other people icon wouldn't work, it just depends on the context, I suppose. The other logo, as a whole, was just too close for my comfort overall. I think it had a lot to do with the font, placement of the font, etc., as well, as you mentioned.

Thanks Auieos. Interesting work. I like the way it's self contained, a put together. I don't think I like the backwards S. Do you have any ideas to develop it further?
No problem Patrick. I put the backwards S in because of the mobile phone relation to SMS when i saw those letters it just reminded me but backwards they don't look the same. To be perfectly honest i only have a few ideas to develop it further atm. Will have a think about it i guess. Suggestions always welcome. Will swap the s back around next time i upload so u can see it the other way.

Thanks Auieos. As for suggestions, I don't know that I want to impact it too much, but maybe one area would be to define the microphone a little more. Not like a photo-realistic definition, but maybe some light (light as in soft, not light as in lighting) definition, if that makes sense.

The trouble with the name is that any attempt to use the abbreviated letter form SMS instantly conjures up the acronym for short messaging service or text. It's a real job thinking of layout and composition let alone theme!

Thanks for feedback guys. I filled in the microphone and swapped the s back around. I have been busy lately with real work so haven't had much play time. Have been thinking about colours, masking coloured circles/festoon through solid black areas. Maybe even squares.

Sweet me I wouldn't offer critique, it was meant to be a more general point for everyone.
All in all though I like this last one a lot, I can see it in a vibrant shade or red/orange, lime green. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade!
