hey, i was wondering how you use brush strokes and how to turn them on.

You will have to clarify your question a little? Do you mean, how to use brushes in a natural media way, or how to get an outline around your stroke?

The first instance is in the Brush Palette, and the second instance is the FX button in the Layers Palette.

If you specify it would be easier to help.
