I am using Photoshop/Imageready CS2 for slicing. As far as I am aware, Imageready is supposed to number slices from left to right and from top down. Until now, this is what it has always done. Now, for no reason I can work out, it is numbering slices from right to left, which is a real hassle in terms of what I am using the slices for and I have to manually rename all the slices.

Are there any preference settings that control how slices are numbered? I can't find any.

I run Windows XP Pro SP3.

I use CS3 and as far as I know the only preference is to show/not show slice numbers.

from help:
Slice numbers Slices are numbered from left to right and top to bottom, beginning in the upper left corner of the image. If you change the arrangement or total number of slices, slice numbers are updated to reflect the new order.

Thanks for your reply. The wording "If you change the arrangement or total number of slices, slice numbers are updated to reflect the new order" implies that it is possible to alter the arrangement and numbering of the slices. However, I can't work out any way to affect the numbering of the slices. If I slice up a large graphic into multiple slices, Imageready numbers them in a way that doesn't make any logical sense that I can see, and more particularly, I can't see any way of influencing the numbering system.

What I am doing is slicing up a comic book so that each frame of each page of the comic is an individual picture, so that the comic book can be viewed on an Iphone, for example, frame by frame. For this reason, I would like to have the slices numbered strictly from left to right, and from top to bottom, so that when I select "save optimized as" and "user slices only", all of the indiducal frames are saved in the order in which they need to be viewed. However, I can't get Imageready to do that, and I have to go through and individually re-name the slices so that the resulting pictures are named in the correct order.
