Hi there,
Is there an easy way of doing this? The hair/heads look especially out of place. I've tried using shadows, but still looks weird. Any help would be great. Cheers.

A photo would be a great help, but...
Make sure that you are matching the tonal values of the two images, you could blur slightly the edges of the people that you are compositing.
As I say though, difficult to prescribe a solution without diagnosing the problem.

You can use this website to upload pics, go to browse and link to the file you want to upload but the file limit is 200kbs in size I think!

I have used the blur tool around the edge, can't do much more due to the resolution being so low!

Cast a shadow from where the light source is the strongest, girl on rights foreleg is in shadow so that gives an indication as to where to cast the shadow.
You could also add wisps of hair to roughen up the border pixels of the two layers.

Yes but if you have a drop shadow then it doesn't look as though they are walking into the picture they will look as though they are next to the picture?
There needs to be more resolution to add wisps of hair etc...
