I've just started learning photoshopping, so i was reading a tutorial here:
Code:
http://www.webdesign.org/photoshop/photoshop-cs4-tutorials/page-1.html?level=1

One of the tuts ( the one with making unrealistic things seem realistic) on step 5 says they recommend using a clipping mask. The tut says its so if i dodge or burn, it'll only affect that part im doing, but i've tried without the clipping mask and i don't see a difference. I've checked the definitions online, but I don't get what they're saying... Can anyone tell me in layman's terms what clipping mask does?
