I am glad to have stumbled upon this site. Prior to asking this question I searched the internet and did not come up with a good way to do this. I have a picture of a model who I want to "airbrush" or "body paint". I do not know anyone who does this physically so I decided to try my hand on the computer rather than buy the paint and try it myself.

I do not want to add a small amount like a tattoo or something. I want the entire model to be completely covered in "paint".

I know how to overlay an image using the blending option, but when I do so it looks terrible. It will skew the color of the pattern to look almost sepia. I want it to look as real as the image below. Is there any way to do this? Or do I need to actually paint the colors in the program?

An example of what I am talking about doing is located here:

Likely the best approach would be to paint the colors on a layer and then use a displacement mask to place them on the model.

The displace filter under distort. It's a bit involved to explain here, but there are tutorials if you Google.
