Hey everyone,
Had a look round this forum and thought you guys (and gals) might be able to help me with a few questions.
I recently stumbled onto pictures that have a certain lighting effect applied.
I'm unsure if its a photography effect or post production effect (by using photoshop)
The light appears darker in some parts and lighter in others
Can anyone enlighten me on what the effect is called for starters and how it is achieved with photos? (photography or post production)
Thanks guys in advance!

Its probably a little of both IMO. I think they both used fill flash to give the foreground an even look.It looks like the sky might have been graded a bit in photoshop or with a filter. Without a fill flash the subjects would've been a bit darker since the light source is behind them. If there are really amazing lighting effects that can be pulled off in photoshop alone, I've yet to see them. I wouldn't rely on photoshop to accomplish what good lighting does. I think you'd be disappointed. |

I am quite certain most of this was done on set with lighting, but certainly there was some post processing involved. A photographer like Joe McNally could pull this off with only some light post processing needed. _________________ www.splitlightdesigns.com
