If you can afford to buy the Intuos4 you should, it's a more capable tablet. I always advise people to buy more than they think they'll need.

In this way you grow into istead of out of, and in the long run you'll save money.

Refardless of what you decide, either one is light years ahead of using a mouse for editing.

Thanks, that is exactly what I needed to hear. They were the same price, but being so new to PS I was afraid of purchasing something out of my league and not be able to use it........

Last but not least question, the main reason I was torn between the bamboo and intuos, was because Im getting more from one but loosing work area on the tablet.... Is that a big deal, Will the intuos small be a big enough work area?

I use an Intuo3 with a 4X6 work area and I am very satisfied. This is my second Wacom tablet of the same size. I've never felt a need for more with photography.

Artists, however, may find a larger work area beneficial.

I ran across this for an Intuo3 which is a very nice pen tablet too. Plus it will save you $100.
