Dear Friends
I am using CS(ancient I know) on a Mac Its been fine. Lately I can't open images by double clicking. The same images will open if I use the OPEN command in Photoshop. They were created by that same program. I have checked Get Info. it says open with Photoshop. Otherwise Photoshop works perfectly. Any ideas? Thanks _________________ Thanks for your help,

Hi Walt,
Just wondering... have you installed a newer OS on your Mac since Photoshop was originally installed?

Dear Art,
Yes, since it was first installed, but it worked just fine under the currently installed 10.4.11 OS X until a few days ago.

Walt,
Try re-creating Photoshop's preferences file. Start the application while holding down Command+Option+Shift. Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?" After re-creating the preferences, the only preferences you may need to reset are those under Photoshop>Preferences. You won't lose your color settings or custom work space.
If that doesn't solve the problem, I suspect you are missing or have a damage file called "Adobe Unit Types". That file is in your ScriptingAdditions folder (Hard Drive>Library>ScriptingAdditions). If that's the case, you'll need to re-install Photoshop. As I recall, CS on a Mac does not require activation, so reinstalling should not be a problem.
Hope this is helpful,

Dear Art,
The first suggestion didn't work. The re-install did. Can I keep a spare copy of the Adobe Unit Types file around and restore it if this happens again? or does it have to be done with the installer.
Thanks so much for your time and help.

Walt,
Usually that problem occurs when you upgrade your OS, so you could just copy that file from your Previous System Folder before trashing it. But, yes, it might be a good idea to keep a spare copy around; that should certainly work!
