Hi all,
Two basic questions:
1) What's the best way to select the color for the paint bucket? I can do it will pull down menus, fill selection, and so on, but that seems cumbersome. is there a way to access fill color selections directly from the paint bucket?
2) I want to use the magic wand to select interior parts of an image, for example, segments of a leaf image defined by the veins and stems. If the segments are not clearly enough defined for the magic wand to recognize them, is there a way to increase their "contrast" or "visibility" so that the magic wand will recognize them as a separate space? Does this make sense? When I currently click the magic wand on the small interior spaces I want selected, the tool simply recognizes the entire image...I want to more clearly define the interior spaces.

Thanks for the advice Hawkeye.
You responded to a previous post of mine about how to manipulate outlines and images. You recommended that I check out some tutorials--I did so. I was able to scan and import some images, select the background with the magic wand, invert the selection, create layers, transform selections, and so on. In short, I am learning.
Sometimes it's the simple things...you know there is an easier way to do something, but you can't figure it out, and the tutorials don't make it clear.
I think I understand what you recomend about the foreground?background color above, but what about the following scenario:
I select something (image, part of an image, box, and so on). I click on the paint bucket...now, what if I don't want the foreground or the background, I want a new color? I have been using the pull down menus, under the option fill selection, color, and so on. Can I directly access some color choices (not necessarily foreground or background) with keystrokes or other options?

Click the foreground color in the tool bar, it opens the Color Picker, then you can choose any color you like.
The Magic Wand options are at the top of the screen.
