I use sprites as templates for a bead art project of mine. I have a limited palette to use, and I would like to see how certain sprites would appear if I only used my available colors.

I haven't tried Photoshop yet, but I would like to know if I could "select all" pixels of a certain color and recolor them all with another color of my choice.

In the attached image, for example, I might change all black to a certain shade of brown. Or, I might want to select a recurring shade of tan and change it to a lighter shade of beige.

My goal is to recolor the image, changing certain colors to ones I can match with beads.

Is there a technique by which Photoshop could accomplish this?

There are many ways to do it, but it's not always going to be completely accurate depending on the image. Here are three:

1) Use the magic wand tool, then fill the selection with desired color.

2) Select-Color Range, then fill the selection with desired color.

3) Image-Adjustment-Replace Color.
