Hi, I'm a new user to CS4 after the massive jump from Photoshop 6! I am trying to use the marquee tool as a free form selection but it seems locked. Does anybody know how to 'unlock' it.
Thanks

By "locked" could you explain a bit more?

Sure, what I mean is that when the marquee tool is selected, I click on an area of the photo and a selection appears from the top left hand corner to the area I have clicked on, but what I want to do is start from the area I have clicked and drag it to another area to make just a selection of the photo active (not from the top left hand corner), could be the middle section of the image for instance.
Hope this makes sense?

I have done as you said but it's still doing the same thing, I basically want to click and drag the marquee tool for a selected area
