Hello everybody,

Does anyone know how this arty effect is achieved? It is originally a photo but how is the dreamlike quality/painting effect done?

On the image below youŽll hopefully get a better idea of what I mean:

try to add noise,
add so contrast,
use a soft edged low opacity brush and mask out the top layer to reveal the white layer below it to make the "lights"

use a curves adjustment to color correct the image, or in your case modify the colors

You can do all of this with "Adjustment Layers", and then use different blending modes, as well as edit the adjustment in the future

Although I do not know how it is done using photoshop alone, but there are couple of excellent Plugins that give such results. I can send you the URL of such plugins so that you can download the Demo versions & try them.
