|

Hello,
I'm new to Photoshop and have been trying a few things to get better acquainted with it, one of those things is drawing and using a rubber stamp. With this aim in mind, I followed this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCmmnIyMS7c at the start when I click on New I chose 800 x 600 then chose a 'transparent' background, everything goes as it should through the tutorial right upto the end at the point I apply the 'spatter' effect it unfortunately doesn't have the same effect as it did with the non-transparent background. Also how do I actually 'use' or 'apply' the image to another image or letter?
To give you some other idea of my problem if I were to follow this example: http://oogletutorials.com/photoshop-drawing-techniques/draw-a-photoshop-rubber-stamp-effect I get to number 12\13 and then I can't do anything with the 'stamp'.
Has anyone any idea as to where I might be going wrong?
Many thanks. |

Don't use a transparent background for the image, use white. The spatter brush won't work with transparent. |

If I don't use a 'transparant layer' then surely I would need to use a white or whatever background, therefore it won't look like a 'stamp' once applied to the target file will it? It will look simply like another piece of paper stuck onto the target file.
I'm trying to get the 'stamp' effect. Could anyone sugest a more suitable 'create a rubber stamp' graphic to my needs then, as obviously the ones I'm finding aren't giving me what I'm looking for.
Thank you for your time. |

Make the stamp tool with the circle as outlined. Then flatten the file. You'll have just one white background layer with the stamp on it. Use the spatter filter now.
After the spatter filter, hold down the alt key and double click the layer in the layers palette. This will convert it from a background layer to a regular layer.
Now use the magic wand tool (uncheck the contiguous box) and select the white area. Hit delete... no more white.
If you want to save this to put on other images, save it as a png file to preserve the transparency. Good luck. |
