How do I figure out the size of a picture on my canvas? For example my canvas is 500x500 and I have a picture much smaller on it how do I figure out the size of the image. When I click on the image the size does not show anywhere.
Thank you. |

command or control "R" will show you the rulers, and in preferences you can set the ruler to inches, pixels, and so on.
Also you can use your "info" pallet to view the dimensions of a selection, so use the marque tool to select the portion of the image you want to check the size of and look at the info panel.
if you need to set up a guide to measure the size, make sure the rulers are visable, and drag a guide line out from the left side or from the top, start your drag over the ruler _________________ For great Photoshop tutorials and freebies, check out www.iammrknowitall.com |

Thank you again salvadore.
Just one other question regarding the marque tool. After I draw a shape, then release the mouse, I can't seem to select the drawing again in order to resize it. |

not quite sure what you mean here, but when you have a selection active I thing you have less options then with a selection, that being said, you can "transform" the selection under the "edit/transform" menu, or maybe you mean the "Shape" tool? if you need to edit a "Shape layer" which is created with the shape tool (by default) you should be able to select the layer and go to "Edit/Transform/choose an option" and edit the shape.
sorry if I missed by a mile, but I cant quite tell what the question is _________________ For great Photoshop tutorials and freebies, check out www.iammrknowitall.com |

I think I'm mixing up terms here and confusing things....so I'll try again.
What I mean is I'm using the marque tool to measure a shape as you suggested in your post above. Say for example I outlining the shape with the marque tool and somehow I release the mouse before I'm done, it seems once I release the mouse I cannot find a way to drag/extend the marque shape.
Hope this is clearer. |

just so we are clear, the marque makes a "Selection, rather then a shape, and you are asking how to edit the selection after releasing the marque?
other then just makeing a new selection with the marque, you would need to create a new layer filled with a solid color, then go to edit/transform, with the solid layer selected, but really there is no point, just make a new selection.
is this what you meant? _________________ For great Photoshop tutorials and freebies, check out www.iammrknowitall.com |
