|
|
Hello.
I need to design my first template using photoshop. the content area of the web site will be 980px ( width ) ..
I like to add border to each side ( left and right ) .. i seen many sits using background image that spans the entire screen and has left and right boarder added to the background , which effectively looks like border on each side of content area. however, i was not able to figure what would be the best canvas size for this . as each site i looked at , background was set to different size ..
my main content will be in center of the monitor .
Thanks. |

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Your words are a bit scrambled to me. If you could post a link with a site that you've seen do what your looking for, that would be great! When I better understand what your talking about, I will be glad to help you. _________________ http://jordansnell.webs.com/

Thanks for reply.
Ever since i got your reply , been looking for those sites that i seen this done.
so i try to be more clear , i hope.
i m building a site .. page will be fixed width of 960px ,and positioned in center . i need to add drop shadow border each side . i can add div , or table to do that . .but what i saw on other sites. they incorporated the dropshadow to the background of their website .. so it was positioned perfectly on both side of main content of the page . no need for extra divs or tables , etc..
i remember background of one site was set to 1500px.. and another one set to 1200px . but yet on my screen ( 24inc wide ) both sites border was in correct location .
was just wondering , in order to do that , what is the best size to set my canvas in photoshop ?
ehhh. hope im clear.. cuz , i got lost somewhere at the beginning .. |

It depends how much space you want on the outside of your content box. I, myself, would go with 1200px simply because its less space to work with (easier) and will probably get near the same result as another size. Hope this helps! _________________ http://jordansnell.webs.com/
