"The Lion King" style - how to get it in Photoshop

Hello.
I found a lot of tutorials about sketching in "The Lion King" style, but not about the colours. Now I'm working at it, so I'm looking for advices or links.

I want to ask you, how to create a picture in "The Lion King" style (when I just have a contour ofc).

I'm asking about how to get that type of lines, blending etc., for best in the Photoshop, but it can be also in an other program.

And which techniques will be the best?
Please, be as precisely as you can.

off the top of my head....

basically its just a pen tool outline on the top layer
then they have the base colour layer underneath that which after doing all the sections they add a layer on top of this which is the lighting and shadow sections ( selected with pen or on using a tablet)

and thats about it i believe any layers underneath would be background and 2bh i don't know if thats the exact way they do it but i do know thats a easy and effective way which is used in many thing similar to the lion king
