Seperate the Background from my logo

I am trying to layout my logo and It seems to have this white background attached to it that I can't get off!! How do I just get my logo without the background. I tried to make the background clear and it says its clear but it still shows up white when I lay it out? Pleeeease help

my first thought is to try saving as a .gif .... but that's me. If I make an image with a clear background I do it as a .gif.

I was able to do this with your image on my machine.
