Just wondering how thumbnails are generated.
I assume the thumbnails I view in windows explorer or adobe browser are generated by the browser and are not imbedded in the original images right out of the camera, or am I wrong about this.
This also brings me to assume the when I download an image off the internet that the thumbnail I see is imbedded in that images metadata to establish a link or a connection to that image.
If this is the case, how do you create an thumbnail and establish that link?
Thanks in advance,

Hi cmcniss,
Whilst some cameras do create smaller images to use as thumbnails for previewing, others don't and work from the full size images using the cameras on board RAM.
I'd always recommend creating your own as you have complete control over the size, quality and format of the thumbnail. You should be able to create a fairly simple action to make the thumbnails for you.
Images downloaded from the internet won't generally have a thumbnail embedded in the file or metadate. Whilst is is possible with some formats, it's not really the way the web works. The metadata, if any, is usually just the basic stuff like resolution and photographer.
