Hello all this is my first post. Let me thank everyone in advance for the help. Im really new to photo shop. Ive done a couple things I really like however this is... eh. As anyone who is even slightly familiar with photoshop can see this is pretty basic stuff here. Looks cute..... but looks also like its seriously lacking something and needs to look a lot better. So does anyone have any advise on how to make inserting people into cartoons look better? I searched and searched on the web and alls I get back is those stupid cartoon "actions" and an occasional tutorial that doesnt fit my needs.

Thanks

The most important step one needs to take when trying to merge two completely different pictures together is to make them match as much as possible. You need to make the baby look more cartoonish to match the background. There are several different ways to do this. Here are a few steps you can take to accomplish this...adjust hue/saturation....adjust curves....color match....levels, and most importantly, using several layers of the baby and changing blending modes until it looks close to what you want.
Now here is just an example of what I am talking about...but keep in mind I didn't have the two files to work with...just one, and here's what I came up with.

Here's one I did a while back...Taking Disney charcters and merging them into a real background...

Original background...

Finished product using the methods I described
