Greetings forum!

So Im working on some designs for my band.

Our logo was originally drawn by hand, then scanned, and rendered in photoshop. That was a few years ago. I dont even know where the original drawing is anymore, so I have to work with the JPEG of the logo that I have.

Anyways, the logo is real basic. All of the edges look pixleated. Im assuming that when I originally scanned it, i must have had it on a really low DPI.

So I want to know how to smooth out the edges of my logo.

I'll attach the logo so you can see what I mean.

thanks!

thanks for the reply!

Ive been reading up on a bunch of different forums and I think what I need is to make the logo a vector image.

Im using the logo for various things, like T-Shirts, advertisements, banners, website/myspace.

So I need a totally sharp, crystal clear image that can be enlarged or shrunk without distortion/pixelation.

Am I on the right track? an if so, can anyone help me with vector?

I would do lots of tutorials on vectoring maging as well as using your pen tool. You do realize that you will probably have to start over with a blank canvas and actually re draw this using your pen tool...right? This won't be easy for you if you're not experienced.

In the past Ive sent this logo to have Tshirts made and the shirts came back sharp, with no pixelation. I even had an 8 foot by 10 foot banner made that came out perfect. I doubt the designers re-drew the logo.

But then again im definately a NEWB when it comes to photoshop

There isnt any way to do this without having to redraw it by hand with the pen tool?

Not that I am aware of.....
The best trick I know about getting rid of pixalization, did not work on your image for some reason.....Why I am not sure...but you're more than welcome to give it a shot
Here's a link to the tutorial..

If this doesn't work for you as it did not for me, you'll have to start over I'm afraid

Here I got it looking better...

I copied the background twice and used high pass filter on both of those layers with the blending mode set to hard light, and wahla....

Drag this out to CS3 and see if the path is there. If it is, you can blow it up and put it on the side of a truck if you so choose.

Cheers.
