Like the subject says, I want to create a simple ornamental border pattern or any border pattern, if anyone could help that would be nice.

You can also start by loading some frames into your shape palette. They're pretty simple, but can be a good starting point to add colors, styles, etc.

Thanks, combiBob, that really helps, I'll have to try that out. Since they are shapes, can you direct me to somewhere that'll teach me how to add color and a bit of style to them? or where I could find these frames for free?

and to Ducky, I don't know how that could help me, but thanks anyway.

Sure. Just display your Layers and Styles. Click on any of the Style buttons. (I have tons of them from an old WOW book, but PS comes with a few to get you started.)

Then go to your layers and see what happened to make the effect. Mess with them to learn.
