Hi-I'm completely new to this forum and new to Photoshop. I have a very very simple question. I am trying to create a card in PS and I do the file-new and select the size, etc. Then I do file-open to get an image and the image comes onto the screen but my canvas is nowhere to be found. ALso, in the layers path, there is no background. Do I have something inadvertently turned off? I watched a photographer do this and it was as simple as file-new .... and file open, the image popped up next to her canvas and she just moved it right onto the canvas. HELP!!!

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tanya

Hi ttbest,

Is it possible you're looking at the paths palette instead of layers. You can also try pressing the F key a few times which will move you through the various screen modes.

Hope this helps
