In my picture, the subject is in mottled shade. How do I correct for the dark shade or shadow on the face?

Hey mecc1959

Probably the easiest way to work would be to employ the shadow / highlight command (Image > Adjustments > Shadow / Highlight) and work with the shadows slider.

Thanks, that helped a lot. I dont mind the spots of sun as much and the shadows realy brightened up.
