I get this message when trying to save files in Photoshop CS2. This happens about 90% of the time when I try to save or save as. I have to save to the desktop or another folder for it to work.

Message I get: "Could not save "Name.tif" because of a disk error." Confused

I would check your Scratch Disk location in the Preferences menu in the Edit menu. Your scratch disk may not have enough memory to save the file. A few tips:
Ideally, your scratch disk should have at least 3-5 times the space required to save an average sized file.
Make sure you are not saving the file to a network drive.
Try using the "Save As" command instead, this sometimes helps.
I would suggest buying a separate 50-100 gigabyte drive for use as scratch space only. This will speed up Photoshop quite a bit.
If you are using "Startup" or "C:" as you scratch space, Photoshop will be competing with the system over resources.
Good luck!
