|
|
Hi there,
I'm looking to make up a large 08 out of around 200 surnames, which all need to feature. Of course I could do this manually but it would take an age.
Is there any way I could do this easily? Involving paths or text-wrapping?
Many thanks for your help in advance.
Cheers,
Ric |

Hi there
Would it matter if some of the names features 2 or 3 times. Just thinking, if that wasn't a problem then you could use a clipping mask.

Hi Man,
I've thought about a clipping mask, but what I'd really like to do is keep the correct number of names and simply adjust the font size to fit within an 08 path.
Any ideas?

Hi there
Create the 08 with the type tool. Load up it's selection by CTRL clicking the thumbnail, then move to the paths palette and create a new path outline from the selection outline. Now use the outer-most path to add text to. You can do this by selecting the type tool, making sure the path is selected and you're targeting a new empty layer - now when you move the cursor over the path, hold down ALT, and you should see the cursor change. Click and start typing!
Hope this helps _________________ Matt

hi there, thanks for that!
one problem, it doesn't work around the hole/s in the 0 and the 8. so the text stays within the shape of an 0 but doesn't go around that gap, so i just get an 0-outline-shaped block of text :-(
any suggestions? |

You mean that with the 0 for example, you can't add text to the inner path? Try switching off the text layer in the layers palette, you should now be able to select it with the path active and a new layer targeted. Don't forget, if the path is too narrow or too wide, you can transform it in the same way that you can transform pixels. The path needs to be active for a transformation to occur. _________________ Matt
