Hi,

Is it possible to 'link' images in photoshop instead of embedding? I'm not talking about linking layers so they move around together, etc, but having an image saved somewhere else that is linked to your photoshop document. I thought I had seen this in other files I've taken and flattened from designers, but maybe I am thinking of another program. Is this kind of thing an Illustrator or other program feature only? I can't seem to find anything on it online.

Thanks for any help.

The closest thing I can think of is smart objects. Although a smart object is embedded into the document, you can still do things like duplicate a smart object 10 times inside the same document, then go back and edit the original and have all of them change. The smart objects are linked to an embedded image inside the document.
Hope this helps
