Okay this is a problem that is bugging me big time.
I have 3 layers
TEXT
SHADOW
BG
the blending options are normal for TEXT and BG, but I have soft light for SHADOW. Now the BG layer actually contains an illustration which makes my shadow look realistic, however what Im trying to do is, save the picture with a transparent background with only TEXT and SHADOW showing, but as soon as I hide BG, the SHADOW layer will go back to the black color I drew and not look like a shadow. I tried merging text and shadow but either the TEXT gets soft light and gets ruined or SHADOW becomes normal and gets ruined. Its very late, ive been trying to figure it out for the past 4 hours so I hope I explained it clearly.
Thanks in advance for the help. |

when you remove the BG layer it will effect the way the shadow layer looks because you have the blending mode for the shadow set to soft light. The BG layer shows through the shadow layer giving it the effect it has, take it away and the shadow layer looks diffent. Its hard getting a shadow effect to look good using a transparent background.
What background are you going to be using for this
text with a shadow, is it going to be just a white back ground or something else? _________________ www.angryjohnny.ca |

It is going on the same background as the image im using for the BG layer. Im making this as a logo for a website. So there is no way to save the effect the BG layer had on the SHADOW layer before removing the BG layer? |

If thats the case can you not just save the image with all three layers as is, cut up the image as you need to and use those images on your website?
Perhaps I'm missing something.
You can save text with a shadow with a transparent background but as soon as you start to blur the shadow or if the shadows look is being modified by a background you are going to take out then its not going to look the same as is with a trasparent background.
You could try this:
Dublicate your text layer and your shadow layer.
Merge your backgorund, old text layer and old shadow layer together.
Merge your remaining text layer and shadow layer together.
Select the the text and shadow layer you just mereged.
click on the background image. copy, open a new document with a transparent background and past.
You might get the effect you are looking for with the new image. _________________ www.angryjohnny.ca |
