My Texan friend has taken some engagement photographs and unfortunately the couple have dark hair and the background is also dark - I think you can see her problem with the photos. Somehow the background needs to be lightened and neither of us know how (we both have Photoshop 7) I have made a similar mistake so it would be nice for both of us to know how to correct this type of problem. I will pass on the link here and also ask her to join as she certainly would find this forum as helpful as I already find it (still reading all the posts/replies here) Meanwhile, I would appreciate any help and advice as to what to do with the dark background problem. Two of many photos are attached to give you an idea of what's gone wrong

Go to (Image, Adjustments, Levels) take the middle arrow and slide it to the ummm I think the left alittle. Or you could play around with the brightness and contrast, both ways should work some what. _________________ www.angryjohnny.ca |

Hi there,
One of the best ways to lighten up shadows is to use the shadow/highlight command inside the adjustments submenu. Play with the 3 sliders under the shadows section until you start to see an improvement. The default settings (of 50%) should give you an immediate idea of how this command works.
Hope this helps _________________ Matt

Thank you for that suggestion too - I have passed on both answers to my friend but I am going to try these suggestions myself as at times I also have a dark background problem (not quite as bad as my friend's) but its really nice to know how to get out of trouble. |
