Hello!
I am finally decorating with photos after a few months of buying our home. The project I need help on is very important to me - I have always wanted to do this!! My question: I want to create a large - 22 x 28-inch - collage of photos. Lots and lots of candids, favorites of family and friends...at what resolution should I create it if I am going to have it printed at the local camera store?? 300? And do you recommend all photos be in black and white, or color? I would like to create a mat for it, but I think it would be best to buy some mat board and cut it rather than digitally create it - that would keep the print away from the glass and avoid sticking. Also, would you reccommend I use a bit of white space between each photo, or is that my preference?

I look forward to your opinions and advice!
My name is Trese, and I am a mother of two, military wife, and love creating photos and playing in photoshop with them. :)

Hello Trese
300 pixels per inch is a good resolution for a printed photograph, some people use 267, other go higher - I'd stick with 300 if I were you.
As far as your work goes, it's completely up to you, you can easily create mats, frames, borders etc inside Photoshop and in my experience they work very well once printed.
Good luck

Miss Trese- You're probably finished with this project by now, but if not or you want to do another one...try EL-CO Color Labs. They have an internet special worth checking out. I frequently get 2-20x30 prints at the specials price of $19.95 for both. You have to buy 2 and they are great! I've framed many of my favorites and created montages for a couple people. I usually use one of my pics for the background and cover with the others. Read their instructions carefully first and I think you'll be very pleased with the results. I live close by so I can pick mine up, but otherwise they will mail in a tube. Good luck! Any questions I will happily answer for you if I can.
