Toolbar Pop-ups Won't Go Away

Hello,

I really like using Photoshop, but every once and a while I get this problem when I'm using Photoshop 7.0:
On the toolbar to the left-hand side (default), when I left-click a tool, the menu option for the other buttons (ex. Paint Bucket and Gradient) pops up. The strangest part is that it sometimes does this, and sometimes doesn't; I have never done anything to turn it off or on.

I would really like to turn this off, because it is incredibly distracting when I am switching through a lot of tools on a project!

Does anyone know how to help me with this? It would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. If I haven't explained myself clearly enough, haha, which happens, just let me know and I can grab some screenshots to help.

Hi there
As standard the hidden items inside the tools palette appear in a floating menu if you hold the mouse button down.
Not sure if this is what you mean or not!

No, the hidden menu comes up immediately with the left click. I realize that the right-click is supposed to bring it up, but for whatever reason, both button do!
