I have recently designed a business logo in photoshop CS3 and have noticed that when i print it, the text and the image come out all rough and pixelated. I need to get the text and the image smooth at any size as it is to be printed onto business cards, letter heads, car stickers and car signage. I have been told about vector images and text layers but im not really sure. Will I have to start again or can i use what i have?

Can anybody tell/show me what i need to do?

Please, Please help.
Thanks Grizzly1979

Take a look at the logo on the attachment

Hi Grizzly

Is this vector based or has it been rasterized?

Could you also give us the info inside the 'image size' dialogue box, that'll help us determine if it's a sampling issue.

Finally, what kind of printer are you working with?

Hi, the logo is vector based which is why im confused that when i print it usaing my HP photosmart 7760, it comes out pixelated. Its mainly the text that is the problem. I need it to look professional when i have it pur on the car. Im not too worried about the printer because were going to have it done professionally. I need to be able to send it to them in any format they want and have it ready to go.

How could i smooth the edges of the text when the image size is increased?

The Image size is 400 x 200 pixels or 14.11cm by 7.06cm.

Any suggestions would be brilliant, thanbks for your help,

Hi

If your image is 400x200 pixels, and you're printing it at 14x7 CM, then you're printing at a resolution value of around 72 pixels per inch - perfect for web design etc, but very low for printing. You really need to be over the 300ppi resolution, perhaps even 600 for crisp graphics. Make your changes inside the Image Size dialogue box but make sure the Resample Image option in unticked.

If you're sending from PS to your printers software then perhaps make sure you've got the quality set to the best setting, sometimes (like on my Epson) it defaults to Draft all the time

Hope this helps
