Hey, I am new to this board, and I have a question that i hope some one can answer. I am a graphic designer for a company that prints off book covers and such. I do all my designing in Photoshop, and they look pretty decent. However, whenever i go to the prints, they tell me to do the black text in illustrator so they are vector. With raster, they mix the colors and get the pixelation ect... and they dont look as sharp. However, my question is text in Photoshop is vector is it not. Unless you rasterize the layer. But what if you dont. I export all my images to PDF and send it to the printers, so is there even a point to doing the text in illustrator if photoshop is vector text too? Or when i export does photoshop automatically rasterize everything? It shouldnt if it i sin PDF form right? Please help since I dont know who else to ask!

Hi There

You're absolutely right, text inside Photoshop is vector based until you rasterize it, then it becomes a jumble of pixels. I'm not sure if PDF supports PS text layers, maybe you could try to open one of your PDF files using PS, if the text is still editable then you have your answer.

Also, what colour space are you working in? Pure black in RGB doesn't always give you what you want inside CMYK.

Hope this helps
