Hi, I'm new here, so... hi everyone.

Anyhow, I'm doing a project with someone in a different part of the world, doing illustrations for a book, and I've been having some issues regarding size.

The illustrations I'm doing are supposed to be about 11x9 inches and that's the size I've been making them on my pc.... however, when I send them to my contact, who's using a Mac, he's seeing the images as only about 2x1.5 inches and at 72 resolution, while I've been saving them at 300 res at full size.

I'm really confused, is the problem lying with the jpeg or should I be saving it as a different file type?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hey rxsheepxr

The resolution value (ppi) only applies when printing the document.

If you're producing an illustration with vector based drawings then you need to be printing at a resolution of around 600 ppi, this means you need to create a document (with printing in mind) of 5400 pixles x 6600. This will allow you to print at 600ppi in the 11x9 format.

Also, if you are using vector based artwork, JPEG's not a good idea, send as a psd if poss, or a TIFF with LZW compression.

Let me know if you want any more info
