I have a photo that I desaturated, added a few inches to the right on the canvas, and added a layer with color.
I now want to blend from black to transparent from the right to the middle of a face. Possible?
I'm searching through my books and can't find anything!

Not exactly sure what you mean.
Try adding a layer mask to the photograph and then using the gradient tool (set black to white) to create your effect of one side of the picture fading your colour (the layer beneath) |
