So, attempting to learn what I can as a beginner photoshop user. I'm having an issue where if I were to open a picture which is say, light blue, it will open as black or very near to black. I can adjust the brightness/contrast, but it won't come near the original image color (Though near). If I save the file afterwards, the colors are completely fine in the save.

Any suggestions? I checked the help file, couldn't find a thing, browsed around a bit, but found nothing.
