THIS is what the problem is.
I cannot save or go into blending options~
Is there something I can do to not lose all the progress of made of getting that far?

I really do not know why you got that error.
And I do not know if you click OK will close photoshop.
but for future reference it is very important to save save save your work, I usually do it every few minutes or few layers depending on the type of work I'm doing.
and WOW your work is great.
