Hello to all,

Can anyone recommend a drawing tablet. I'm on a budget. What do you considered the "best bang for your buck".
Are Wacom tablets better than Adesso Tablets?
I saw an Adesso 12 x 9 @ 149.00, but the Wacom that size costs twice as much. I was also recommended a Wacom Graphire 4. 6 x 8. I know it's a lot samller, but would that be a better buy?

Thanks in advance,
Josalgarcia

I don't know much about drawing tablets (I've actually never even used one before), but my limited understanding of them is that Wacom is the top of the line brand out there (not sure how accurate that is, just my perception).

I imagine it goes like anything else - You get what you pay for. You just need to make sure that what your paying for isn't just a "name".

I would recommend reading user reviews about some different brands. I use http://www.cnet.com quite frequently. I'm not sure they review drawing tablets, but they probably do. The editor reviews at cnet are also very good. I find them to be fair and quite honest for the most part. Just beware of user reviews that are ALL positive about a product. Some companies hire people to write great user reviews about their products on popular web sites. No product is 100% perfect, and most people enjoy writing about the bad things (human nature for you). So watch out for that.

Hope that helped a bit. Good luck!

The Graphire 6x8 would be ample. You don't need to map the whole screen to the tablet. Use it in Mouse mode.

I have the abovementioned Graphire4 640 (A5 size) and I find I only use the middle bit of the tablet in 'mouse mode' coz I'm lazy and can't be bothered to go all the way to the extents of the tablet. I don't tend to want to move my wrist. (yup, REALLY lazy)

I probably could've got away with the standard Graphire4 440(A6 size) for 1/2 the price.

The Wacom Bamboo is even cheaper than the 440, and it's got a slightly larger (wide screen) active area. It has a few more features, but I found the Bamboo too overly complicated for my simple mind.
