I have an image and I want to add a box below the image but colour it "grass green" but I don't know where to start.

Here is how I want the image to be without the colour

If your looking to add a new layer, just go to

layers -> new layer

or Ctrl + Shift + N

or click the little icon that looks like a piece of paper at the bottom of the layers palette.

hope this helps.
