Hi all,

Recently, my freehand lasso tool in CS2 has been, by default, adding to the first selection I make without me asking it to. Usually you would have to hold shift down to do this, but it is doing it automatically. How do I stop this?

Caps lock is not on.

I would prefer it to be back to normal because I often deselect using the lasso tool by clicking out of a faulty selection I have made.

I hope that this makes some sense.

Thanks for your help.

I do not have CS2, and I use PSE 5.0, but I think I know what you mean.

When you click on the zoom tool, do you see a set of tools in top that lets you choose between zoom in or zoom out and the percentage, etc? If so, that is the way PSE also works.

When you click on the Lasso tool, see in the same area to find different lasso tools. Right beside that you should see four options - New Selection, Add to Selection, Subtract from Selection, Intersect with Selection. If you see the second option highlighted (Add to Selection), your Lasso tool always adds stuff to the current selection. Click on the New Selection option and it will revert back to what you need.

Hope this helps.

When you click the Lasso tool, there are 4 options.
New selection
Add to selection
Subtract from selection
Intersect with seletion.
You probably have it under add to selection. To stop this click New Selection.
That is one the top left.
It is under the file, edit, image, etc tool bar.
